BLOG SERIES: The Birth of Jesus—Obedience leads to Blessings

Here is yet another instance where the ending of the story was, for a moment, dependent upon the obedience of the characters within the story. If Mary had not accepted the call, we might not have been blessed with the Savior of the World. If the Magi had not obeyed the warning, King Herod may have found and killed Jesus before He could bear the weight of sin and save us all. Of course, God was always sovereign and in control of each step, but He gave the characters within the story free will to decide how they would respond.

Have you ever stopped to think about your obedience and the blessings that came from it? Have you thought about the other side of the coin? How has your disobedience kept you from the goodness God had planned for you?

May we step outside our comfort zones to walk in the path of obedience God has laid before us, and may we reap the blessings He has planned for us.
