Day 12: “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”

Oh, how Mary must have marveled. To be visited by an angel, to become pregnant through the Holy Spirit, to carry the Savior of the World in her womb, and to deliver God’s own son in a humble little stable. Then to be visited by a group of shepherds, ecstatic at the news of the baby that lay in her arms, and then by the Magi from the far east, bringing the finest gifts for her son. I’m sure the experience felt so surreal to Mary. I’m sure her heart was often overwhelmed at the thought that God had chosen her of all the women in the world. Like this moment, throughout her life, I bet Mary paused to ponder. I imagine that with each new stage of life, she paused and marveled at her son and the life the Lord had given her, each time storing the treasures in her heart.

Have you ever stopped to think that God also chose you? Of all the women in the world, He chose you for the very role you hold. Have you stopped to recognize His blessings? What things do you pause to ponder? What things do you treasure in your heart?
